As a chef, proudly to say 20 years of that being a Michelin star chef, i’ve spent years working with the finest ingredients—and oysters have always held a special place in my kitchen. But I noticed something: friends, guests, and even fellow cooks often struggled with shucking them. I’d get asked all the time for tips, tricks, or the “secret” to doing it safely and cleanly.
That’s what sparked the idea for the Oysterclamp.
I wanted to create a simple, effective tool that takes the intimidation out of oyster shucking—something that gives you control, protects your hands, and lets you focus on the pleasure of the experience. The Oysterclamp was born from that desire to make professional-level technique accessible at home.

You might not — until the knife slips. The experienced shuckers actually have the worst injuries because they get comfortable. A towel holds the oyster, but it doesn't stop the knife when it pushes through. The OysterClamp keeps your hands completely away from the blade. Same technique, same knife — the oyster just finally stays put.

The current design is optimized for right-handed use. Left-handed shuckers can still use it by placing the oysterclamp against the left side of the cutting board or just right against the counter top.
How do I clean it?

Simply rinse with warm water after use and let it air dry. The hardwood is naturally resistant to moisture. Do not put it in the dishwasher or submerge it for extended periods. A quick rinse and dry after each use will keep it in perfect condition for years.

Yes, this would totally work for you. The whole point of the OysterClamp is that it does the holding — your hands don't have to grip, squeeze, or absorb impact. You just place the oyster in, let the clamp lock it, and use your knife normally. Many of our customers bought this specifically because their hands aren't as strong as they used to be.

What can I say! I used two new bits of equipment. The Oyster Clamp of course (sorry it's not in the pic) and a new Oyster Knife handmade by Michael May a well known Sheffield (UK!) cutler. What a combination! The Oyster Clamp held the Oyster (bought from Smith and Tissington in Sheffield's Moor Market) securely at just the right angle, and Michael's Oyster knife slid in so easily. It was a win win! The easiest shucking I have done ever! Thank you Oyster Clamp!

The Oyster Clamp is one of the most basic and best items made for shucking oysters! I have enjoyed mine now for several years and I make sure that all of my friends that enjoy shucking their own oysters have one as well! I have 2 rebuilt thumbs ... taking a little pressure off the process is good The clamp allows you good purchase at the hinge, wiggle knife a little, once in it's easy to role the blade to open slightly, I then put in hand and open carefully. That way you don't waste the liqour, which is one of the great treats of taste in an oyster. Gave one as gift and the main base warped, the pal left it in water. He said maybe varnish? I thought the raw wood helped hold the bi valve steady. Over all the Clamp works well. Thanks

Takes the stress out of shucking.
Took ages to arrive. Difficulties with tracking too requiring contact to be made with customer services. Seems to work ok. Only works if you’re right-handed really.
Submitted a video. The Oyster Clamp is legit. Such a terrific mechanism to make shucking a heck of a lot easier! Rob Reid
Worked well… but the Kumamotos were too small to fit well… needs a med to large size oyster… good stability… always keep a towel at hand to wipe off the knife!!
Material and build looks cheap but the design and function are really good so far. It works.

Always went out for oysters because it was difficult to shuck. I only attempted one time before ordering the Oyster Clamp. After having the Oyster Clamp I have shucked my own 7 times already in a month. Very simple and much safer than the way I was doing it. Now I enjoy Oysters at home. Thank you.
First time I was able to open my oysters easily! No straining or cursing (ha ha)! I absolutely love the oyster clamp. I forecast many oysters in our future! Even my 96 year old dad loved it!

Why did I just now find out about the Oyster Clamp ??? I got it only a few days ago, and I’ve shulked 6 dozen oysters— all big and gnarly Louisiana oysters. These oysters are fairly large, and once the shell is popped, I moved the oyster to open space to complete the process. Not one oyster was damaged in the process. My family and best friend have enjoyed them raw and also as Oysters Rockefeller. The “R months” are much more enjoyable since I received the Oyster Clamp !!!
